Solid Brass Hardware Shop Tips:

Do not install your solid brass hardware on any surface that has been recently painted, varnished for at least 2 days after the final coat has been applied. This will help avoid any interaction of the lacquer's curing process, which can cause tarnishing.

Over time your solid brass hardware may become tarnished. If this happens, rub with fine #0000 steel wool soaked in a light oil or soapy water. This will help keep metal abrasion to a minimum. For tough to clean solid brass hardware, try soaking the hardware in lacquer thinner overnight. Using a brass polishing cloth, you can also restore the hardware’s brilliant luster with any commercially available brass polish.
